Ring Found Near Charred Body: Police-Help Us Identify Its Owner

Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are asking for the public’s help in identifying an item found at the scene of a death investigation this week in ringAdams Tennessee. At the request of 19th District Attorney General John ringCarney, TBI Special Agents, in a joint investigation with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a scene where a burned body was found this past Sunday.

The deceased individual was found in a field off Highway 76 in Robertson County, near the Montgomery County line. During the course of the investigation, agents found a ring (Pictured) near the body. While the identity of the deceased individual has not yet been determined, agents are hoping someone might recognize this item found at the scene.

It’s important to share this story, as the owner of the ring may not live in Robertson County.

Charred Body Found In Adams Sunday Morning – TBI Investigating

Early Sunday morning around 6:45AM, two neighbors living adjacent to Highway 76 near Port Royal Rd  in Adams, Tn noticed a small fire and called 911.

Adams body found wm006According to Robertson County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Ryan Martin, Adams Fire responded to the call,  as firefighters were working to extinguish the flames they noticed what they believed to be were human remains.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate. Agents with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office did confirm it was charred human remains. Due to the nature and scope of the scene, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist in the investigation. The T.B.I has specialized equipment and investigators trained to deal with this kind of a situation.

The body is situated about 500 feet from the Sulphur Fork Creek on HWY 76 just shy of the Montgomery County border about 100 feet off the road in an open field.  (Location Of Body)

A secondary scene (pictured right) near the road has also been taped off. No information has been released as to how this second area is connected to the investigation at this time.  When asked if foul play was suspected police said, “It’s under investigation.”

Police have not identified the body as of 1:30am Monday. Unless some sort of identification is found on the body it may be days before an official announcement is made.  Click here for Smokey’s interview with police.

Timeline:  6:45am- Initial call comes into 911, Adams Fire responds.  7:30am- Robertson County Sheriff’s Office arrives. 1:30pm-Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrives.   7:29pm- All units clear the scene.

UPDATE: As of 6:00pm Monday evening, police have not released the name of the victim, whether it was a man or a woman or whether the case will be classified as a homicide. Smokey is tracking this story, as soon as we have new information we will bring it to you.
