Community Resources For Families In Robertson County

Volunteers Needed for Robertson County

Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman program advocates for the rights of thousands of residents in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and homes for the aged in Robertson County and 12 additional counties in Middle TN. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is a partner agency with the United Way of Robertson County. Ombudsman staff consists of three full-time District Ombudsmen, an Ombudsman Assistant, and 35 trained volunteers. Trained, certified Ombudsman volunteers pay regular visits to these facilities where they spend time with residents, monitor conditions, investigate complaints, educate regarding abuse and neglect and protect residents’ rights. The program offers mediation, complaint resolution, and public education for residents and their families.

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is actively recruiting for volunteers in the Robertson County area. Volunteer applicants must pass a background check and attend a 16 hour in-house training. The next training session will be held February 6th and 7th in Nashville. Those interested in assisting have until Monday, January 21 to contact the program by sending an email to [email protected] or by calling 615-850-3918.

Journey To Recovery

At Journey 2 Recovery we are aware that addiction effects 1 in 4 people with no regard to age, gender, or class. Having a church family that loves and surrounds these individuals helps create a support network of family that the addict can rely on when the pressures of life hit. Many people who fall into addiction have burned bridges with their families and loved ones and do not have a support group on which they can depend.

We offer weekly classes taught primarily using the Holy Bible and seek to counsel individuals based on the truths found within its pages. We offer accountability and group time for discussion and additional counseling. Each week we share testimonies of victory and prayer requests.

Journey 2 Recovery meets every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. We offer a program for children of all ages, nursery and transportation if needed. Our desire is to minister to the entire family.

We believe the best way to overcome an addiction is through a program like Journey 2 Recovery, which is based upon Bible principles. Our staff is well-trained to help those in the program overcome their addictions and begin their Journey 2 Recovery! We are here to help!

Community Medical Equipment Ministry – White House Church of Christ

White House Church of Christ located at 205 Spring St., White House, TN would like to announce our new Medical Equipment Ministry created to serve the Sumner County and Robertson County communities.

The Medical Equipment Ministry loans medical equipment Free of Charge to those in need on a short or long-term basis.

We saw a need in our community to aid caregivers and patients with medical equipment to assist in home health care and increase rehab success.

We provide equipment on a first-come, first-served basis. Some equipment and items currently available are lift chairs, wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, potty seats, shower chairs, hospital beds, and more.

We also accept cash donations or good-used equipment.

We have limited delivery services; however, for those who are unable to pick up, please call our office, and make an appointment.

It was rewarding to us, as well as the person donating, to be able to provide a hydraulic patient lift to a family with a special need’ s little girl. With this lift, grandparents will be able to help with her care; thus, freeing up time for the parents. Also, we received a call from a woman whose father was being released from rehab early with 2 broken hips and 3 broken ribs. The insurance company would only provide a wheelchair. We were able to provide her with all the equipment needed for his rehab and care.

If you need equipment, the process is simple. Please come by and fill out an information form.
