UPDATE Sept 6, 2013

A Police Involved Shooting occurred on the evening of  Thursday August 15 2013 in the parking lot of the Economy Inn located at 844 Louisville Hwy in Goodlettsville which is just outside of  Millersville next to the Mary Market/Hee Haw Fireworks.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged the subject who was shot by officers with the Millersville Police Department during a traffic stop last month events leading up to the shooting.

Richard Mayers, 50, of Nashville, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, one count of felony evading arrest, one count of being a convicted felon in unlawful possession of a weapon and one count of possession with intent to deliver a schedule III controlled substance.

 UPDATE: T.B.I press release on officer involved shooting 

TBI LOGOAt approximately 8:00 pm last night, TBI was called to investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred after a traffic stop near at the Hee Haw Motel. Officers with the Millersville Police Department were attempting to stop subject Richard Mayers (DOB 10/11/1962) when Mayers fled and held a gun out the car window.

Officers cornered Mayers at the motel and he pointed a gun at them. Four officers opened fire and Mayers was shot and taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he’s expected to survive. Mayers is from the Nashville area and had been staying at the Hee Haw motel. TBI does not release the names of officers involved in shootings and will turn the case file over to the District Attorney General for review when completed.
